Education and knowledge regarding the various modes of treatment is essential in all types of diabetes. Although medical treatment of people is highly individualized, depending on the type of diabetes, whether you have other active complications and your age and general health at time of diagnosis, only a handful of medications have become commonplace.

Type 1 diabetes: Treatment almost always involves the daily injection of insulin, usually a combination of short-acting insulin such as regular or Lispro or Aspart insulin and a longer-acting insulin such as NPH, lente, glargine, detemir, or ultralente insulins.

* Insulin must be given as an injection. If taken by mouth, insulin would be destroyed in the stomach before it could get into the blood where it is needed.

* Most people with type 1 diabetes give these injections to themselves. Even if someone else usually gives you your injections, it is important that you know how to do it in case the other person is not available.

* A trained professional will show you how to store and inject the insulin. Usually this is a nurse who works with the health care provider or a diabetes educator.

* Insulin is usually given in 2 or 3 injections per day, generally around mealtimes. Dosage is individual and is tailored to suit the person. Longer acting insulins are typically administered 1 or 2 times per day.

* It is very important to eat if you have taken insulin, as the insulin will lower your blood sugar regardless of whether you have eaten. If you take insulin without eating, you could have hypoglycemia. This is called an insulin reaction.

* There is an adjustment period while you learn how insulin affects you and how to time your mealtimes and exercise times with your insulin injections to keep your blood sugar level as even as possible.

* Keeping accurate records of your blood sugar levels and insulin dosages is crucial in helping your health care provider take care of your diabetes.

* Eating a consistent, healthy diet appropriate for your size and weight is essential in controlling your blood sugar level.

Type 2 diabetes: Depending on how elevated your blood sugar and glycosylated hemoglobin are at the time of your diagnosis, you may be given a chance to lower your blood sugar level without medication.

* The best way to do this is to lose weight if you are obese and begin an exercise program.

* This will generally be tried for 3-6 months, and then your blood sugar and glycosylated hemoglobin will be rechecked. If they remain high, you will be started on an oral medication, usually a sulfonylurea or biguanide (Metformin), to help control your blood sugar level.

* Even if you are on medication, it is still important to eat a healthy diet, lose weight if you are overweight, and engage in moderate physical activity as often as possible.

* Your health care provider will monitor your progress on medication very carefully at first. It is important to get just the right dose of the right medication to get your blood sugar level in the recommended range with the fewest side effects.

* Your doctor may decide to combine two types of medications to get your blood sugar level under control.

* Gradually, even people with type 2 diabetes may require insulin injections to control their blood sugar levels.

* It is becoming more common for people with type 2 diabetes to take a combination of oral medication and insulin injections to control blood sugar levels.

Diabetes Impotence - What You Must Know

Information on how and why diabetes impotence occurs. Information and resources on diabetic erectile dysfunction.

Diabetes is a disease that effects over twenty million of people in just the United States alone, not to mention over two million in Canada and statistics similiar to this around the world. Among those who have diabetes, over ninety percent have type 2 diabetes. This disease can cause a number of health problems including heart disease, kidney disease, eye problems, nerve damage and diabetes impotence. In fact diabetes impotence affects of eighty percent of men with diabetes.

Diabetes impotence also known as can lead to various other emotional and sexual health issues. This article explains why it happens and possible solutions to this very pressing issue.

First of all, we must consider what this disease actually does to cause diabetes impotence. Among various factors, we can pinpoint the main reasons this happens to most adult males with diabetes.

First of all, diabetes causes many problems including nerve damage, vascular damage which creates unhealthy blood flow and weak blood vessels, and then combined with unsteady blood sugar levels and a touch of nervous tension and anxiety with stress, it makes absolute sense how easily this can effect us. The worse part about it is that diabetes erectile dysfunction can create a paranoid fear that can make it that much harder to achieve an erection. This creates a seemingly ending downward spiral.

So what can you do to effectively fight diabetes impotence?

First and foremost, consider the basics. Food and exercise and proper rest are key components to your health. With keeping these in check alone you can make a significant change in the way you function. In fact, this can help with such things as nerve damage, vascular damage, weak blood vessels and decreasing stress which is often the very root of the problem with diabetes impotence.

It is extremely important that you stay within a strict diabetic diet, followed by proper rest and a consistent sleeping pattern followed by just a little bit of exercise daily. Now this exercise doesn’t mean you have to run a marathon every day, in fact that would most likely be counter productive. You should start with a little bit of exercise daily (like briskly walking around the block) and move up from there.

It is also extremely important to get informed on various methods of treating diabetes impotence. Read articles, books and publications on things that you can do that can help you cure diabetes impotence. Erectile dysfunction is not a disease you have to live with. There are answers to almost every health problem and through knowledge and taking action you can take one step further to a diabetes impotence cure.

    How Diabetes Affects Your Vision

The American Diabetes Foundation reports that more 23.6 million children and adults in the United States who have diabetes. Another 5.7 million people are undiagnosed and often unaware they suffer from diabetes.

Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin. There are two types of diabetes; Type 1- is when the body fails to produce insulin, the hormone that allows cells to turn suage and starch to energy. Type 2- is when the body is resistant or fails to peoperly use the insulin, this is the most common form.

How diabetes effects vision

Nealy 80% of all patients who have had diabetes for 10 years or longer suffer from complications of diabetes mellitus or damage to the retina; also called diabetic retinopathy. is damage to the blood vessels in the eye caused by diabetes. It is the leading cause of visual loss among American adults aged 20 to 65. Research has indicated at least 90% of new diabetic related cases could be avoided with proper and vigilant treatment and mointoring of the eyes.

Symptoms & Signs

There generally are no early warning signs or pain associated with diabetic retinopathy. Characteristic signs of retinal changes may be seen during examination of the retina. Severe retinopathy may develop prior to noticeable vision loss, with late sudden onset of vision loss with hemorrhage or retinal detachment.

With the symptoms of proliferative retinopathy, if bleeding occurs at first, you will see a few specks of blood, or spots, "floating" in your vision. If spots occur, see your eye care professional as soon as possible. You may need treatment before more serious bleeding occurs. Hemorrhages tend to happen more than once, often during sleep.
Sometimes, without treatment, the spots clear, and you will see better. However, bleeding can reoccur and cause severely blurred vision. You need to be examined by your eye care professional at the first sign of blurred vision, before more bleeding occurs.

If left untreated, proliferative retinopathy can cause severe vision loss and even blindness. Also, the earlier you receive treatment, the more likely treatment will be effective

Cause & Risk of vision damage

Approximately 40 percent of all people with diabetes have at least mild diabetic retinopathy, which affects both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetics. Diabetic retinopathy is a major cause of blindness and tends to be particularly severe in Type-1 diabetes.

In general, the longer one has had diabetes, the greater one`s chances of developing diabetic retinopathy. Diabetic retinopathy generally takes at least eight years to develop in juvenile onset diabetes, but may be present at the time adult onset diabetes is first diagnosed. High blood pressure and high cholesterol in the blood are additional risk factors that your doctor will address.

Diagnosis
Because diabetic retinopathy can begin and get a foothold before it causes symptoms, all patients with diabetes should have an eye examination with pupils dilated at least once a year. Often your doctor will take photographs of your retinas. A dye, called fluorescein, may be injected in the blood stream to show further details of the circulation in the retina. This is called fluorescein angiography.

Diabetic retinopathy has four stages:

1. Mild Nonproliferative Retinopathy. At this earliest stage, micro aneurysms occur. They are small areas of balloon-like swelling in the retina`s tiny blood vessels.

2. Moderate Nonproliferative Retinopathy. As the disease progresses, some blood vessels that nourish the retina are blocked.

3. Severe Nonproliferative Retinopathy. Many more blood vessels are blocked, depriving several areas of the retina with their blood supply. These areas of the retina send signals to the body to grow new blood vessels for nourishment.

4. Proliferative Retinopathy. At this advanced stage, the signals sent by the retina for nourishment trigger the growth of new blood vessels. This condition is called proliferative retinopathy. These new blood vessels are abnormal and fragile. They grow along the retina and along the surface of the clear, vitreous gel that fills the inside of the eye. By themselves, these blood vessels do not cause symptoms or vision loss. However, they have thin, fragile walls. If they leak blood, severe vision loss and even blindness can result.

Treatment

Proper treatment of diabetic retinopathy can cut the risk of vision loss by over half. Treatment before diabetic retinopathy causes severe loss is much more effective than later in the disease. For this reason, early diagnosis is critical in order to prevent visual loss and blindness. Control of diabetes and blood pressure is important; intensive control of blood glucose can delay onset and slow progression of retinopathy.

There are treatments for diabetic retinopathy, which usually include laser surgery or ‘vitrectomy’. It involves removing the cloudy vitreous and replacing it with a salt solution. Because the vitreous is mostly water, you will notice no change between the salt solution and the normal vitreous. Although laser surgery and vitrectomy are very successful, they do not cure diabetic retinopathy. Once you have proliferative retinopathy, you will always be at risk for new bleeding. This means you may need treatment more than once to protect your sight.

Prevention

There are ways to prevent or lessen the risk of eye damage caused by diabetes.
The Diabetes Control and Complications Trial proved that careful control of blood glucose levels might prevent the development of diabetic retinopathy.
Regular eye examinations are especially important for children who have had diabetes for 5 years or longer, for adults at the time of diagnosis, for those who have difficulty controlling the level of sugar in their blood, and for diabetic women who are considering becoming pregnant. All of these people are at increased risk for diabetes-related eye problems. To protect your vision get a comprehensive dilated eye exam at least once a year and remember that damage to the vision can occur without symptoms.

Future Risk

In a recent Washington Post article entitled ‘Diabetic Eye Disease Rates Soaring’, the story quotes a study showing the rates for cases of diabetic retinopathy soaring from 5.5 million to nearly 16 million cases by the year 2050.The study gave the following breakdown;

-The number of cases of vision threatening diabetic retinopathy will increase from 1.2 million to 3.4 million.

-Among Americans 65 and older, the number of cases of diabetic retinopathy will rise from 2.5 million to 9.9 million, and the number of cases of vision threatening diabetic retinopathy will increase from 500,000 to 1.9 million.

-Cataract cases among whites and blacks age 40 or older with diabetes will increase 235 percent. Cataract cases among people age 75 and older with diabetes will increase 637 percent for black women and 677 percent for black men. Glaucoma cases among Hispanics age 65 and older with diabetes will increase 12-fold.

Regular eye exams, preventive measures such as a healthy diet and controlled blood glucose, education (understanding how your diabetes affects your vision) may help keep you from being one of those statistics.

Gestational diabetes can be controlled by consuming recommended diets along with regular exercise. Read on to know more.

It is common that women who are not diagnosed with diabetes previously have shown high blood glucose level (hyperglycemia) during pregnancy. This type of diabetes is known as gestational diabetes. It is estimated to affect about 3-8% of pregnant women worldwide. Usually, gestational diabetes is seen in the second half of pregnancy; however, blood glucose levels become normal after the baby is born. In case the symptoms of diabetes persist after giving birth, then the condition is called chronic diabetes, which can be either Type 1 diabetes or Type 2 diabetes.

Gestational diabetes is caused due to the hormonal changes that take place in all women during pregnancy. It is similar to Type 2 diabetes in which the body cells become resistant to insulin hormone. Insulin induces the body cells to take up glucose from the blood for using it as a source of energy.

Due to the problems of body’s cells that respond to insulin, glucose remains in the blood and hence results in hyperglycemia. Symptoms of gestational diabetes are polydipsia (increased thirst), polyuria (increased urination frequency) and fatigue.

Diet

Gestational diabetes doesn’t pose an immediate threat to the health of the pregnant woman. However, it should be controlled as it increases the risks of certain complications such as premature labor, secretion of excess amniotic fluid and preeclampsia (hypertension and presence of protein in urine). In addition, untreated diabetes can cause jaundice, breathing problems and hypoglycemia in the baby.

Gestational diabetes can be managed well with proper diet, regular exercise and routine monitoring of blood glucose levels. Blood glucose levels less than 105 mg per dL (fasting) and less than 120 mg per dL (2 hours after meal) are considered to be normal. Let’s look into some of the useful diets that help in controlling high blood glucose levels during pregnancy.

Carbohydrates are the main source of glucose. Eat foods that contain adequate amount of carbohydrates and maintain the same amount of carbohydrates that you consume in each meal. Some of the healthy carbohydrate diets are pasta, whole-grain bread, bagel, rice, oatmeal and pancake. Vegetables contain fewer amounts of carbohydrates (about 5 grams per serving); accordingly one can plan the carbohydrate intake while including vegetables in the diet plan.

Along with carbohydrate intake, diet should be supplemented with protein-rich foods and sufficient amount of fats. During pregnancy an extra amount of proteins (about 12 grams) is required for the proper development of the fetus. Overall, the calorie intake should be such that about 45-60% should come from carbohydrates, 15-25% from proteins and 25-30% from fats.

Add fiber-rich foods to the diet such as fruits, fresh vegetables and bran cereals. Fiber slows down the digestion of carbohydrates that helps in controlling the blood sugar levels. It also helps in regular bowel movement.

It is advisable to consume four servings of dairy products and calcium-rich products such as milk, nuts, vegetables and other calcium fortified foods. Also, one should include foods rich in iron (fish, eggs and vegetables), vitamin A (pumpkin, carrot and spinach), vitamin C (tomato, oranges and strawberries) and folic acid (beans, lentils and almonds) in the daily diet, so as to get adequate nourishment during the pregnancy.

Drinking eight glasses of water per day is recommended to maintain a proper fluid balance in the body. Always include ample amount of fruits and vegetables in the diet plan. Consuming three meals and two to three snacks a day at regular intervals is beneficial. Try to eat meals at the same time everyday and don’t skip meals or snacks. This helps in maintaining the blood sugar level within the normal range. While consuming packaged food, one should always check the nutritional levels.

Avoid foods and drinks that have high sugar content such as corn syrup, molasses, jams and jellies. Alcoholic beverages should be strictly avoided as alcohol consumption can lead to premature birth and low weight of the baby at birth.

Women who are obese, older than 25 years at the time of pregnancy and who have a family history of diabetes should be more careful while planning for pregnancy. It is advisable to seek advice from a dietitian for proper planning of the meals. Consult your physician in case the blood sugar levels remain high even after following recommended diets and exercise. In such cases, the physician may recommend insulin injections.

Every year number of people suffering from diabetes is increasing at a high rate. If not taken proper care, person suffering from diabetes (hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia) may suffer from diabetic coma.

Diabetic Coma
Diabetic coma is a medical condition in which, a patient suffering from diabetes loses his/her consciousness as a result of imbalance in blood sugar level. A patient suffering from very low blood sugar (known as severe hypoglycemia) or very high blood sugar (known as severe hyperglycemia) can get into diabetic coma.

Diabetic coma can be a result of few medical conditions such as:

Severe hypoglycemia as mentioned above, a medical condition in which patient suffering from low blood sugar level becomes unconscious. This condition is reversible and can be brought under control by following treatment regime strictly and eating/drinking something (carbohydrates) immediately after the patient experiences the symptoms of diabetic coma.

If patient is experiencing dehydration and has severe hyperglycemia, it can lead to diabetic coma (also known as Nonketotic Hyperosmolar coma)

If patient is undergoing physical fatigue and experiencing dehydration along with a severe hyperglycemia, it can lead to diabetic coma (this condition is also called Advanced Diabetic Ketoacidosis or DKA in which the patient’s condition starts worsening and after about 35 hours the patient may get into coma if not treated)

What happens in diabetic coma?
As mentioned above, diabetic coma can be a result of either hyperglycemia or hypoglycemia in combination with dehydration and fatigue. In all the cases, a patient loses consciousness (coma) due to the effect of hyperglycemia/hypoglycemia on brain cells. Glucose is one of the most important elements for human body that helps in keeping metabolism in proper condition. If glucose level in blood drops beyond normal (hypoglycemia) or is higher than maximum glucose level our body can handle (hyperglycemia), it hinders normal metabolism of body and brain cell start malfunctioning. This condition results in variance in osmotic pressure on the cells causing dehydration and other conditions like electrolyte imbalance. This condition can be reversed if patient is treated before it is too late.

Symptoms of diabetic coma:

Patient with high blood sugar may experience dehydration condition, frequent vomiting and/or urination, queasiness, dryness of mouth and shortness in breathing (deep breathing). The patient may also experience increase in thirst.

Patient with low blood sugar may experience physical fatigue, increase in hunger, increase in sweating, sudden shiver etc.

Patient may experience pain in abdominal area

Treatments available:

If severe hypoglycemia leads to diabetic coma, the treatment used for this condition involves raising of blood sugar with the help of medical glucose that can be injected into patient’s body.

KDA or Advanced Diabetic Ketoacidosis and Nonketotic Hyperosmolar coma treatment involves constant supply of saline and medical solution which can help in filling up the loss of the body fluid during vomiting in earlier stage of KDA in combination with appropriate dosages of insulin. The treatment may vary based on the patient’s medical condition and severity of the diabetic coma.

Your physician will decide the course of treatment that needs to be followed based on your condition.

What to do to help patient with diabetic coma?

If the patient is conscious and experiencing symptoms of diabetic coma, immediately inform doctor. If patient has lost consciousness then immediately take him/her to a doctor. (Delay in treatment may lead to Acidosis or KDA (Advanced Diabetic Ketoacidosis). Extreme delay in medical help can also lead to death)

If possible try to find out sugar level in blood (either ask the patient if he/she is still conscious or use glucose meter). If the patient is suffering from hypoglycemia, then it will be dangerous to give him/her insulin in such case. Patient suffering from hypoglycemia should be given something to eat/drink which will help in restoring blood sugar level immediately. Be careful not to give anything to eat/drink to a patient suffering from hyperglycemia.

If you are confused about the patient’s condition and don’t know what to do to keep the patient in conscious state, please DO NOT GIVE PATIENT ANYTHING EXCEPT FOR WATER.

In case if cause of diabetic coma (hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia) is unknown, DO NOT GIVE INSULIN to the patient, it can be very dangerous.

Tips for people suffering from diabetes:

Consult your physician regularly and follow treatment regime strictly prescribed by your physician.

Keep your blood glucose level under check.

Regular exercise can help you keep glucose level under check (excess exercise can create problems for people suffering from hypoglycemia)

If possible, wear a medical bracelet/necklace or carry a medical card in your wallet that identifies you as a diabetic patient, this can be of great help.

Try to teach people around you what they should do in case there is an emergency.

Learn important info about diabetes and candida yeast infections.

Are you interested in finding out if there is a connection between candida infections and Diabetes? There can be a strong connection between these two conditions and having Diabetes can increase your chances of having regular problems with your body’s yeast levels plus if you’re having regular bouts with candida this could be a symptom of a problem with your blood glucose levels.

What Causes Yeast Infections?

When yeast infections happen, it’s because our body’s bacteria levels are out of control. Many things can cause this and make you more susceptible and aggravate other health conditions in the process. Repeated yeast infections can mean that there is a serious underlying health condition as well such as Diabetes or another condition.

Just because you have repeated yeast infections does not mean you have a problem with your blood sugar but it’s worth investigating when you are having problems with recurring candida. If you’ve tried various approaches to fight candida but it seems relentless, you may consider talking to your physician about testing for other health problems. If you already know you have diabetes, you can have a continuous battle with yeast.

Candida and Diabetes: The Connection

Our body has both good bacteria (and flora) and bad bacteria as well. The good guys can get overpowered by the bad guys when things go off kilter for many reasons such as illness, poor diet or medication we’ve been taking. People who are diabetics can be more prone to yeast infections because their body’s levels are off due to their blood sugar and their lack of strength in their immune system can make it easy for unhealthy bacteria to thrive.

Treatment Challenges

There are yeast treatment challenges for those with Diabetes. You’re probably already following a strict diet and know that when you stray from it you can have problems with your blood sugar. Sugar can feed candida and help them replicate.

Over the counter yeast infection and holistic approaches as well can be helpful but they can take longer for those with other health problems like Diabetes to see results with. If you chose a pharmacy over the counter 1 or 3 day suppository for a yeast infection it might not be powerful enough and if most people see a difference with a remedy in a few days, you could wait a few weeks.

The Cure for Candida

The cure for candida is different for everyone. We know that those with blood sugar problems benefit from being very careful about their eating habits. The same goes for candida sufferers. Following a candida diet can be very helpful in preventing yeast infections. Eating diabetic approved foods to increase your immune system’s strength can also be very helpful as can exercise and other things done to improve your body’s pH level.

It can take time for you to determine the cause and the treatment for your health problems but looking at a holistic approach can help you both with your diabetes and recurring yeast infections.

Poorly controlled yeast infection means glucose in the urine encourages candida overgrowth and recurrent yeast infection.

Excess intake of medicine, antibiotics, and birth controlling pills are other yeast infection causes.

Diabetes:
Diabetes is a health condition marked by the presence of high levels of blood glucose in the body. In normal circumstances, the blood sugar in our body is absorbed by the cells and converted into energy with the help of the hormone Insulin (produced in the pancreas). Excess blood glucose is absorbed and stored in the liver, again with the stimulation of Insulin; another pancreatic hormone Glucagon helps release the glucose stored in the liver as and when required by the body.

Sometimes, however, the body does not produce Insulin in the required quantity or the cells fail to react to the hormone. So the blood glucose is not converted into energy and is retained as it is.

The retention of blood glucose in high levels in the body can bring on a host of serious health problem. These problems include heart disease , stroke, kidney damage, eye damage, blood circulation problems, nerve damage to the feet and other parts of the body, and impotence.

There are different causes for Diabetes, including hereditary, lifestyle, and age-related factors. Some of the common symptoms are constant fatigue, increased thirst, frequent urination, weight loss, cramps, and blurred vision. If you experience any of these, it is important that you go for diabetes testing.

Diabetes Testing:
A blood sugar test is taken as a diagnostic tool for Diabetes testing. This test is carried out in different ways -

You may be required to fast for at least 14 hours beforehand.

You don’t have to fast. Blood samples are taken randomly several times during the course of the day.

You are given a drink containing high levels of glucose and blood samples are taken and checked at regular intervals for two hours.

Taking the blood sample is a very simple procedure. When you visit the clinic or hospital, they will wrap a tight band about your upper arm to slow the blood circulation and make it easy to find the veins. Once they’ve located a vein, they’ll swab the area with alcohol, inject with a hypodermic needle, and draw out the blood sample. Then the constricting band is removed, a cotton ball held on the injected area to stop the bleeding and then a piece of sticking plaster is applied on it. And that’s it.

But, even the simplest of procedures can have their share of complications. In this case, some people may experience faintness or nausea when confronted with the hypodermic needles or at the sight of blood, or may have an adverse reaction to the oral glucose test. There is a chance - fortunately, not a common one - of the injected point bleeding or bruising or developing an infection. Sometimes multiple injections are required to collect blood samples, and this can be problematic. Talk to your doctor about any special care you need to take if complications arise.

After the blood samples are collected, they undergo analysis in the laboratory. If they happen to have higher levels of blood glucose than normal, this is an indication of Diabetes.

Bear in mind though that the blood sugar tests can be affected by the following -

What you have eaten or drunk.

What medications, if any, you are on. Oral contraceptives, some diuretics and corticosteroids can raise blood sugar levels.

Whether you have recently been ill, injured or undergone a surgery. These can cause fluctuations in blood sugar levels.

Treatment for Diabetes:
Treatment for Diabetes is determined according to whether you have been diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes or Diabetes Mellitus. The main treatment aim, however, in either kind of Diabetes is to control the blood sugar levels and maintain them at the normal range.

Gestational Diabetes is a temporary form of diabetes that occurs in pregnant women - during pregnancy, routine tests are carried out to check for this form pf Diabetes. Gestational Diabetes usually goes away after the birth of the baby and the mother shows no more symptoms of Diabetes, but it needs to be monitored carefully during the pregnancy.

The more serious and long-term form of Diabetes is Diabetes Mellitus, which again has two forms, Type 1 Diabetes (which occurs when the body cannot produce any Insulin) and Type 2 Diabetes (which occurs when the Insulin produced in the body is either not enough or not effective). Diabetes Mellitus cannot be cured, but it can be controlled with medication, diet and exercise, and the patient can lead a sufficiently normal life.

Diabetes treatment can include -

Eating a low fat, low salt, and high carbohydrate diet.

Avoiding sugar and sugary food and drinks.

Taking regular exercise.

Taking insulin injections and any other required medications.

Regularly checking blood sugar levels with glucose test strips.

Herbs for Diabetes - Natural Ways to Lower Sugar in Your Blood

It is great to use natural herbs to improve the over all health and well being. And there are many herbs that can help with specific diseases. Diabetes is one of them. Herbs for diabetes are used more and more to complement or sometimes even replace conventional diabetes drugs. Here you will find tips on how to help diabetes without drugs.

Even though every country has some native herbs, most of them originated in china and other Asian countries. One reason is climate - warm and humid it promotes plants growth and it is also a traditional way of living using healing herbs to fight diseases where even modern drugs don’t work. For example a tropical fruit called bitter melon is an effective diabetes herb. If you it fresh or drink its juice it significantly reduces your blood sugar.

Is using diabetes herbal remedies better than conventional diabetes medicine?

Explanation of diabetes herbs popularity is simple; people use herb medicine instead of the traditional drugs because herbs are safe for your health and have minimal side effects. Many people are concerned that herbs don’t cure diseases quickly enough. This is true, herbs work but may take several months to see the effect. Because natural medicinal herbs stimulate your immune system to fight diabetes and that takes time.

Diabetes is one of the major causes of premature death worldwide. Every 10 seconds a person dies from diabetes-related causes. Diabetes is a chronic disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin. Insulin helps glucose (sugar) leave the blood and go into the body’s cells. Diabetes is a disability when it substantially limits one or more of a person’s major life activities. Major life activities are basic activities that an average person can perform with little or no difficulty, such as eating or caring for oneself.

Diabetes is a serious disease, which, if not controlled, can be life threatening. It is often associated with long-term complications that can affect every system and part of the body. Diabetes is a major risk factor for heart disease-in fact, two-thirds of people with diabetes die of some form of heart or blood vessel disease. Diabetes is the most rapidly growing chronic disease of our time. It has become an epidemic that affects one out of every 12 adult New Yorkers.

Diabetes is also an important factor in accelerating the hardening and narrowing of the arteries (atherosclerosis ), leading to strokes, coronary heart disease, and other large blood vessel diseases. This is referred to as macrovascular disease . Diabetes is a disease in which blood glucose levels are above normal. Most of the food we eat is turned into glucose, or sugar, for our bodies to use for energy. Diabetes is a condition in which sufficient amounts of insulin are either not produced, or the body is unable to use the insulin that is produced. Diabetes can be defined as a metabolic disorder, because the disease affects the way the body metabolizes, or uses, digested food to make glucose, the main source of fuel for the body.

Diabetes is a serious disease which can lead to heart problems, strokes, loss of limbs due to poor circulation, and death. Research continues to indicate that regular exercise and a healthy diet are two factors which can help people avoid diabetes, as well as allow diabetics to have functional lives. Diabetes is emerging from the shadows because the United Nations led the global response and declared a Resolution on diabetes. Diabetes is on the rise. It has increased more than 40% in five years and more than 5 million Americans are undiagnosed.

The Diabetes Symptoms And Proper Treatment

If diabetes is not treated properly it can become a life-threatening disease. Therefore, it is tremendously important that diabetes symptoms be recognized. Diabetes has to do with insulin. It is a hormone that the pancreas produces and it’s fuction is to control blood sugar levels. Diabetes symptoms may occur any time there a elevated sugar levels in the blood. Causes of diabetes are the body’s inablitly to use insulin or the body having too little insulin. Sometimes both.

Common Diabetes Symptoms

Diabetes symptoms for Type 2 Diabetes that are seen the most are fatigue, blurred vision, increased appetite and thirst, impotence in males, wounds that heal slowly and increased frequency in urination. If you experience any of these symptom you may want to perform a "fasting blood sugar test". If your results are between 100 and 126 mg/dL your chances of developing Type 2 diabetes are considrered to be high risk.

Managing Your Diabetes Symptoms

Watching for symptoms and controlling your blood glucose levels should be your most important goal. This will enable you to take the appropriate steps to eradicate symptoms since there is no cure for diabetes. This will enable you to live a longer life and put an end to the long-term health risks such as heart disease and kidney failure. Talking with your doctor is recommended because knowledge is power. The more able you are to recognize the symptoms caused by adult diabetes, the effects this disease has and the treatment of those symptoms the more able you are to take control and to make the necessary adjustments to your lifestyle to improve your health and prolong

Diabetes is the major cause of kidney failure, limb amputation, and vision loss in American adults. Diabetes at least doubles the risk of heart disease. Diabetes is the leading cause of blindness and kidney failure among adults. It causes mild to severe nerve damage that, coupled with diabetes-related circulation problems, often leads to the loss of a leg or foot.

Diabetes is a disease that prevents your body from properly using the energy from the food you eat. Diabetes occurs when the pancreas, an organ behind your stomach, produces little insulin or no insulin at all or when the pancreas makes insulin but the insulin does not work as it should. Diabetes is derived from the Greek verb diabainein, which means to stand with legs apart, as in urination. Diabetes mellitus means, literally, honey-sweet urine (back when doctors would sometimes actually taste people’s urine to make a diagnosis). Diabetes is a disease in which blood glucose levels are above normal. Most of the food we eat is turned into glucose, or sugar, for our bodies to use for energy.

Diabetes is the most frequently reported cause of kidney failure in the United States. In 1990, it was the underlying cause of kidney failure in 34 percent of patients starting treatment for end stage renal disease (ESRD). Diabetes is a sickness that can entail a lot of work and money to conquer. But with the help of diabetic organizations, it becomes doing it becomes easier. Diabetes is a disorder of the body’s metabolism, the process of converting the food we eat into energy. Insulin is the major factor in this process, which begins when food is broken down during digestion to create glucose, the main source of fuel for the body.

Diabetes is the fifth deadliest disease in the United States. However, studies indicate that diabetes is generally under-reported on death certificates, particularly in the cases of older persons with multiple chronic conditions such as heart disease and hypertension. Diabetes is the name of the condition where the blood sugar level consistently runs too high. Diabetes is the most common endocrine disorder. Diabetes is one of the leading causes of death in the United States. A metabolic disorder, diabetes affects the way the body uses digested food for growth and energy.

This article gives details on the natural treatment of diabetes, including the latest research on possible natural remedies. Tips on diet and exercise changes for dealing with type 1 and 2 diabetes are also provided.

Type 1 diabetes is when the production of insulin decreases or is absent. It is an autoimmune disorder usually caused by genetics, chemical secretions, or other factors which are out of a person’s control. However, it can be managed through effective natural therapies, diet and exercise. Type 2 diabetes on the other hand can not only be managed but also prevented through natural remedies that help control blood sugar.

Supplements and herbs for the treatment of diabetes

There are some herbs that are thought to help in the control and treatment of diabetes. Bitter gourd, grown in India, contains plant insulin and if it is taken on an empty stomach, can be effective for diabetes treatment. Coccinia indica, also known as the ‘ivy gourd’ has been found to contain insulin-mimetic properties. Further testing is being done to prove its effectiveness in the treatment of diabetes. Research is also being done into bauhinia forficate, grown in South America is used in a Brazilian herbal remedy and also contains ‘vegetable insulin.’

Aloe vera is grown in arid soil and often used as a skin lotion and for treating burns. Dried aloe vera sap and gel may be able to lower fasting blood glucose levels as well as HbA1c. Natural supplements of magnesium could improve insulin sensitivity. Chromium, found in whole grains, mushrooms, corn oil and brewers yeast has also proved effective. The correct doses of vitamin A and B have helped in managing insulin and the treatment of diabetes. However these have to be taken with care as they could interfere with the absorption of insulin by the cells.

Diet

The first step, however, in the control and treatment of diabetes should always be through diet. Refined sugar, sweets and other sweet food or drinks, fats like butter and hydrogenated vegetable oil should be avoided, along with many processed foods. Alcohol and smoking should be avoided completely, if possible, though an occasional drink is not out of the question.

Salt should be reduced along with red meat and other foods that are full of saturated fats. Whole grains and fresh fruits should be added along with raw vegetables, sprouts, fish and other foods rich in antioxidants. Trans-fats and saturated fats should be replaced with monounsaturated fats like peanut, canola and olive oil.

Other foods that help are cinnamon sticks eaten naturally or in tea and fenugreek seeds soaked in water. The Indian gooseberry and margosa or neem extracts (azadirachta indica - a subtropical tree) have all proved useful in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Garlic has been tested and found to be useful in limited studies. It offers antioxidant properties and micro-circulatory effects and could help reduce blood glucose, increase insulin secretion, and slow its degradation.

Exercise

Walking, any sport, jogging and swimming are particularly helpful. Specific yoga postures help in stretching and relaxing the body along with helping the mind to handle any stress.
